Suspect Culture is an arts organisation with an international reputation for creating groundbreaking high quality new work. Over the course of 20 years the company worked with some of the most respected artists and organisations in the UK and internationally, creating new performance work in a variety of media; primarily theatre but also visual art and film.
All of the company’s work has been informed by a central set of concerns revolving around the creative circulation of ideas; between different cultures, art forms, artists and issues, but most importantly between us and our audience. In the late 1990s the company’s working methods had an influential role in the development of contemporary performance in Britain.
From 1995 to 2009 Suspect Culture was based in Glasgow and grew to become one of Scotland’s highest profile touring theatre companies. This site serves as an archive of the work that the company produced during that time and aims to provide an insight into the ideas and methods that the company explored in its work.
